Fan Studies. What goes on?
Fan studies is an interdisciplinary area of research focused on media fans and fan culture. The scope of research centers on the social and cultural impact of fandoms. To me, it’s all about making sense of why we come together for the things we care about so much and trying to make sense of how we position our individual fan identities. So what’s up with your newsletter?
I aspire to come out with long food-for-thought pieces at least once a month. If time allows, I can put out some smaller ramblings. My aim with this newsletter is to offer an academic lens for viewing pop culture, and just like in academia the output is slow (because good stuff takes time).
Why so foolish with your heart?
I’m a happy fool and my heart can take it.
